There are so many DIY body butter recipes out there, but we think our homemade DIY rose body butter recipe really hits the nail on the head. It deliberately avoids hassle and hard to find ingredients making it easy to make. Besides, making rose Body butter yourself ensures there are no chemicals and is far more interesting than buying it!

By making it yourself, you can leave out the nasty chemicals contained in body butters like this one which is supposed to be a good brand. Always check the label!

There is a great alternative you can buy on Amazon if you like the theory but not the DIY. It’s by the body butter shop and is great for aiding glowing skin.  You can find it here: The Body Shop Body Butter, Moroccan Rose, 6.75 Ounce

Why do we use rose in our body butter? Well, Rose body butter is an absolute beauty necessity if you are prone to skin blemishes, acne or blackheads. Natural rose helps control oil levels on the skin and is a naturally powerful antiseptic. Consequently, it can aid in the kill bacteria on the skin while simultaneously preventing too much sebum build up and causing over oil production (blocking the pores).

Rose is also an astringent and facial toner that works in a similar way to witch hazel, if you’re interested, you can read our article on witch hazel for more info. It tightens up wrinkles and quite literally ‘tones’.

It’s very gentle and can be used anywhere on the body, it’s great for insect bites, and other irritations. The natural vitamins A and C present in rose hydrate and protect the skin, as well as keeping it well nourished to give an all natural glow.

That’s why we use it!

Here’s our method for making homemade DIY Rose Body butter:

Ingredients:

1 cup of sweet almond oil
2 Tablespoons of shaved beeswax (WHERE ON EARTH DO I BUY THAT!?)
1 cup distilled water or rose water (Rose water preferred. read our article on how to make homemade rosewater, or you can purchase store bought rosewater here)
30 drops rose essential oil
10 drops of another essential oil of your choice.

Method:

1. Gentle heat a small saucepan.
2. Shave 2 tablespoons of beeswax and slowly add the almond oil too. Once the beeswax has fully melted, remove it from the heat.
3. Slowly stirring the mixture, blend the rosewater, and the other essential oils.
4. Place the mixture in an air tight container for freshness.

Need something to put this Body butter in?

Glass-jars

We use these retro looking glass jars that seal for freshness! In fact, they’re pretty good for anything and cheap too, but we use them just because it doesn’t clutter our cupboards and it makes recipes look far better! I don’t think we’d make it if it had to go in a bowl with kitchen foil and the like! What else could we put our homemade rose body butter in!

I want a cool glass jar too!
