10 Minutes: “In the first 10 minutes: It tricks your taste buds and attacks your teeth. The phosphoric acid attacks the enamel in your teeth, while the artificial sweeteners like aspartame hit your system. Aspartame may trigger taste receptors and tricks your body into thinking it has just had processed sugar.”
As soon as you taste the sheer sweetness of something like Diet Coke, the body immediately anticipates a sugar increase and causes your pancreases to release large amounts of insulin. The insulin force lowers the pancreases’ sensitivity to the insulin, which could increase your risk of type two diabetes. Furthermore, you’ll store more fat around the gut, counter productive to the point of ‘diet coke’ and can actually increase your risk of heart disease.
40 Minutes: “Can cause addiction. The combination of caffeine and aspartame creates a short addictive high similar in the way cocaine works. Excitotoxins are released which may exhaust your brains by overstimulating its neuroreceptors, especially if consumed on your regular basis.”
Around this time, the blood is saturated with caffeine, making you less sensitive to tiredness. In turn, we often go beyond our natural capabilities.
Here’s where it gets nasty: The aspartame has officially reached the brain, where aspartame is a powerful neuro toxin. It’s a well known carcinogenic, which can cause cancer, and can also bring on migraines and other issues is those immediately sensitive to it.
At 60 Minutes: You begin to crave sweets, sugar or indeed another diet coke. Making the ‘diet’ part completely pointless.
